The “Education in the Circular Economy” project is an initiative proposed by Liofyllo, funded under the Operational Program (ESPA) “Western Greece 2014-2020”, as part of action 9.v.1.1-a: Support of existing and newly established Social and Solidarity Economy (S.S.E.) Agencies in Western Greece. This project aligns with circular economy principles, emphasizing sustainability, innovation and social entrepreneurship.
Objectives of the Project:
- Developing an Innovative Product – Liofyllo will create a new eco-friendly product made from recycled natural materials, aiming to reduce plastic waste and replace non-sustainable materials in everyday use. Specifically, the project will focus on the manufacture of sustainable plant pots in various sizes.
- Educational Awareness & Training – Special educational workshops and seminars will be organized to enhance environmental awareness, particularly within the Western Greece region. These workshops will encourage participants to embrace circular economy practices and promote green entrepreneurship.
- Empowering Women, Green and Social Entrepreneurship – The project actively supports women-led businesses and encourages sustainable business models by integrating environmental innovation into entrepreneurship.
- Strengthening the Olive Oil Production Sector – The project will invest in the rural economy, particularly in olive oil production, by providing knowledge, innovation and sustainable solutions that can enhance the region’s economic and environmental resilience.
The Knowledge Triangle: Education, Research & Innovation – The project will apply the “knowledge triangle” model, integrating education, research and entrepreneurship to:
