Story: The olive tree thrived in ancient Olympia and was used during the Olympic Games in a circular petal shape. The branches of the sacred olive tree, which was located near the temple of Zeus, were cut exclusively by an amfithalís país (child with living parents). Hellanodikai (chief judges of the Ancient Olympic Games) took the cut branches and made the wreaths. Then they gave them to the winners of the Games as their prize.
